In a major step toward getting its books in order, the Army is almost two months into an audit-readiness examination of three forts that have been using an enterprise business system designed to manage billions of dollars in the service's general fund. The testing at Ft. Jackson in South Carolina and Fts. Stewart and Benning in Georgia coincides with the program, the General Fund Enterprise Business System, receiving its full deployment decision. The General Fund Enterprise Business System, or GFEBS, is slated to be fully implemented service-wide by next summer, according to the program's leaders. These three forts under exam were in the first wave of GFEBS deployment.
