Kendall Issues Guidance To Accelerate, Improve DOD Acquisition Efforts

Defense Department acquisition chief Frank Kendall said this week he is "very unhappy" with how long it takes the Pentagon to field weapons and he plans to tackle the problem in DOD's latest push to boost efficiency and productivity in defense spending. "It's taking much too long, as far as I'm concerned," Kendall told reporters at a Nov. 13 press conference scheduled to promote Better Buying Power 2.0, the Pentagon's latest guidance to acquisition officials. Earlier that day, he signed a memo laying out 36 initiatives aimed at bolstering the way the department buys weapons.
