The Miniature Air-Launched Decoy-Jammer's prime contractor, Raytheon, confirmed this week that the Air Force has ordered the company to stop work on the MALD-J's second increment after it was canceled in the fiscal year 2013 budget request. The Air Force's baseline MALD program is a decoy that mimics the radar signatures of actual missiles carried by the F-16 fighter, B-52 bomber and in the future, other aircraft, and the program's newest version, known as MALD-J, is able to provide jamming capabilities as well. The service had planned to pursue an improvement program known as MALD-J Increment II, but that program has been terminated, according to FY-13 budget documents.
