Air Force Outlines Efforts With Navy To Reduce Global Hawk, Triton O&S Costs

In a new report to Congress, the Air Force has outlined how it is working with the Navy to reduce operating and sustainment costs for Global Hawks and Tritons ~ similar high-flying, long-endurance unmanned aircraft fleets built by Northrop Grumman ~ taking actions that could include joint aircraft basing and more efficient engine maintenance. The September 2013 report, "Global Hawk/Triton Operating and Sustainment Costs," was required by the 2012 Defense Authorization Act and sought by lawmakers who were concerned that "high" Global Hawk cost-per-flight-hour estimates by the Air Force would be replicated by the Navy in the Triton program.
