Lawmaker: Pentagon Took 'Narrow Approach' To Semiconductor Size Shift

The Silicon Valley lawmaker who called for the Pentagon to examine the nation's role in moving to the next generation of manufacturing tools for semiconductor technology has expressed disappointment that defense officials have not heeded the call. Rep. Mike Honda (D-CA) told Inside the Pentagon through a spokesman that "it is unfortunate" the Defense Department, in a recent report submitted to Congress by acquisition chief Frank Kendall, "took such a narrow approach to considering the national security implications" of the industry's shift to a larger semiconductor wafer size.
