The program manager for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter told lawmakers Tuesday that a key maintenance and logistics information system tasked with identifying problems with the aircraft is producing false-positives to the tune of 80 percent and must be redesigned and upgraded. Air Force Lt. Gen. Christopher Bogdan, the joint program manager for the F-35, said the Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS) is undergoing a series of upgrades to improve its reliability and is also being redesigned from its current 1,000-pound configuration so it can be deployed on ships at sea.
