Tech data rights panel would face Feb. 1 deadline under defense policy bill

The government-industry advisory panel established to tackle technical data rights issues will face a Feb. 1 deadline, according to the conference report on the fiscal year 2017 defense authorization bill. The panel was established by the FY-16 National Defense Authorization Act and originally tasked with completing its report by Sept. 30, 2016. However, that deadline was pushed back, and Dick Ginman, the group's chairman, told Inside Defense in September the panel was aiming for early next year.
