Air Force, CYBERCOM build toward integrated cyber forces

A top Defense Department cyberspace adviser told reporters Monday cyber operators will be integrated across the military's geographic and functional organizations as part of U.S. Cyber Command's elevation to a unified combatant command. Maj. Gen. Ed Wilson, the defense secretary's deputy principal cyber adviser, said at an Oct. 16 media roundtable raising CYBERCOM from a subunified combatant command will not change the relationship between each service's cyber warfare component and the broader CYBERCOM, but will make cyber a more prominent, streamlined part of operations.
