The Senate voted 89-1 today to confirm Army Gen. Mark Milley to be the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The lone "no" vote came from Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR). Milley previously served as Army chief of staff. Milley is poised to succeed Marine Corps Gen. Joseph Dunford, the current chairman whose term officially ends in October.
