Lost in the new CS2 Layers Palette? We'll show you the way

The way in which you create a composite layer is a little easier now in CS2. You still press [option] ([Alt] in Windows) and choose Merge Visible from the Layers palette's pop-up menu or Layer menu, but Photoshop automatically creates a new layer for your composite layer and preserves the original layers. In earlier versions, it was up to you to create a new layer. If you didn't, all the visible layers would merge into whichever layer was selected.
