House vote slows administration attempt to fast-track LNG by rail

A Trump administration effort to make it easier to transport LNG by railinside specialized containers suffered a blow from the DemocraticHouse of Representatives last week.The House approved an amendment to a transportationappropriations bill that would deny funds to carry out an executiveorder President Donald Trump issued April 10 to expedite the approvalof LNG shipment by rail. The amendment also blocks funds for thesecretary of transportation to issue a special permit requested byEnergy Transport Solutions, a subsidiary of small-scale LNG developerNew Fortress Energy, to move LNG by rail.
