A Next Generationmusic-based Social network Game

With several prominent international companies from the gaming industry setting up shop in Singapore, many industry observers are waiting in anticipation for Singapore-grown innovations. The DJ SIM game, developed by researchers at Singapore's Institute for Infocomm Research (PR), could fit the bill. It is inspired by two recent trends in the gaming industry: the development of motion-based and of music-based games. Music-based games such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band, which exist in versions that use the unique motion and gesture input of game systems such as the Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3, have been hugely successful DJSIM Researchers and developers at I~2R are engaged in an on-going effort to develop a unique gaming experience for the music game genre based on tetherless gesture input. The eventual product will be a unique, PC-based, online multiplayer DJ music simulation game.
