Driving Research Into Standards: An I~2r Perspective

Among the many factors that influence a technology's market success, such as the product's performance and its pricing, an important but less obvious consideration is linked to industry-wide standards. Any new technology that aspires to universal adoption should exhibit compatibility and interoperability with existing technology. Over the last several years, the Institute for Infocomm Research (I~2R) in Singapore has positioned itself as the city state's flag bearer in influencing and contributing to international standards for information and communication (infocomm) technologies.
