Our Digital Future

Digital media permeates almost every aspect of modern life. It is instrumental in facilitating communication and social interaction, providing us with entertainment and allowing us to entertain others, and it is even crucial to our safety, health care, and education. Digital media is now an integral part of our cultural identity and personal self-image. One of the most exciting facets of digital media is its transformation from a passive medium to one that is interactive and engaging. We no longer simply watch or hear digital media, we can now interact with it, control it, manipulate it, and evolve with it. This issue of INNOVATION discusses recent efforts and thoughts on interactive digital media (IDM) from Singapore and abroad, covering a wide range of topics, including education through interactive games, interactive storytelling, interactive content creation and media monitoring, and technology and applications for use in social networks.
