Energy use and demand have more than doubled over the past three decades as a result of world economic growth and the improvement of people's lives. This demand for energy will continue to rise as global demand for energy continues to increase, in particular from emerging markets such as China and India being the key energy drivers. Currently, fossil fuel (coal, oil and natural gas) accounts for roughly up to 85% of the growing world energy demand. Out of this, oil and gas contribute to about more than half of the commercial energy the world consumes.
