A New Look At LCD Monitors

There's a revolution taking place that's changing the way people view their computers, literally. For the first time, sales of flat-panel liquid-crystal display monitors outpaced sales of time-tested cathode-ray tube monitors in the third quarter of this year. And there's no looking back. In July, August, and September, U.S. businesses and consumers bought an estimated 4.5 million LCD monitors, up from 2.5 million a year ago, according to market research firm iSuppli/Stanford Resources. During those same months, an estimated 4.1 million CRT monitors were sold, down from 5.9 million a year ago. ISuppli expects this trend to continue, estimating that LCDs will make up 70% of the 17.2 million monitors that will be sold in the United States in the first half of next year.
