IBM's servers based on its new Power7 processor are a key part of its effort to help businesses deal with a world where everything from toasters to 747s are computerized, online, and sending loads of data. IBM predicts there'll be a trillion connected objects on the planet next year, and many businesses will "require a new type of performance" from hardware to make sense of all the data, says Rodney Adkins, senior VP for the vendor's Systems and Technology Group. With that in mind, IBM unveiled four servers-the Power 755,770,780,and 750 Express-that it says are built to withstand these new data demands.
