While Learned Information, Inc. had been in the publishing business since 1980, the company had almost exclusively focused on periodicals.rnInformation Today (IT) was its flagship newspaper, geared to library and information science professionals. Link-Up followed in 1985, a magazine focused on the end user. But aside from the annual National Online Meeting Proceedings volume, the Medford office was publishing few books, such as 1988's Computing Across America: The Bicycle Odyssey of a High-Tech Nomad by IT columnist and microcomputer (PC) guru Steve Roberts.
