Video chat has a long history. From the writings of 19th-century futurists such as Albert Robida to the obsession with video phones in the 1990s, live video chat is as much a part of speculating about the future as are jet cars and teleporters. Yet even with the modern high-speed internet in the mix, extra software often needs to be installed, and compatibility issues need to be circumvented. So video chat may now be a reality, but many people simply don't want to bother. A company called TokBox developed a technology that brings video chat to a user's fingertips without installing anything at all.
