摘要

University and research libraries in the developing world should take more steps to promote their services to users. That's one of the main findings of the recent report, "Library Value in the Developing World" (LVDW), by academic publisher SAGE Publications. The report examines the levels of awareness of library services among those university faculties that were surveyed and how shortcomings might be addressed. LVDW claims that librarians in developing countries are beginning to recognize the importance of assessing their value to research and teaching staff; however, communicating the value of that role remains a key challenge. "Librarians noted that whilst they receive positive feedback about the resource collections they provide, there is limited awareness of how librarians can better support research and teaching staff beyond these traditional parameters," according to a statement from SAGE.
