Academic Publishing Europe Explores a Digital Agenda

The 11th annual Academic Publishing Europe conference (APE 2016; ape2016 .eu), held Jan. 19-20, 2016, in Berlin, brought together some 200 people-attendance is limited to that number-to discuss what a digital agenda looks like for scholarly publishing. Dominated by publishing company employees, with only a handful of librarians, APE 2016 presentations provided perspectives on technology-driven developments in scholarly communications; new business models for publishers; the role of peer review; the impact of open access (OA), open data, and open science; and ethical research.
