Frankly, chickens and chickpea bagels are beyond our scope of understanding. However, we cannot say the same for apps. The smartphone on our desk, eyeing us like a 21st-century cyclops, is laden with them. Its memory is crowded with little programs that calculate our blood pressure in millimeters of mercury, stream audio we don't like, and toss out news headlines from Lithuania. And since we used to have a compulsion for sports (another mania without a formal title), we have a collection of sports-related apps on the portable device that exerts way too much control on our lives.
