Serials Solutions: Taking care of e-journal data management for libraries

Serials Solutions, a NISO member since 2002, was started by the McCracken brothers ―Peter, Mike, and Steve ― to address a problem that Peter, a librarian, had identified. Libraries did not have a comprehensive list of the full-text electronic format journals that were included in their subscriptions to hundreds of online databases and electronic content products. With the rapid and frequent changes to these electronic collections, libraries had no easy and quick way to determine if they had access to a specific full-text journal article. Bringing together the expertise of Peter the librarian, Mike the IT specialist, and Steve the business and marketing pro, Serials Solutions was launched in 2000 with the goal of "taking care of the e-journal data management so that librarians don't have to."
