In-Cell Polarizers

Despite the success of conventional sheet polarizers in LCDs, they are costly, labor intensive, and one of the LCD components that most frequently require repair. For some applications, there is a durable, lower-cost alternative. The exploding liquid-crystal-display (LCD) market will reach about $40 billion in 2004, and continuous growth of 21% is expected over the next 5 years. Part of this demand comes from the consumer-television market, which is fueled by the increasing affordability of LCD panels.
