Where do kids go for trusted information? What sources do they hold suspect? At the heart of this edited volume from the MacArthur Foundation Series on Digital Media and Learning is a deep respect for young people who are inventing new, surprising and often sophisticated practices as they interpret and assess the media that inform and mediate their lives. It is a call to understand the experiences of youth as they not only encounter and assess but also create, distill and remix information in a shifting landscape of digital media online and off.rnPopular discussion of these issues frequently becomes polarized. On the one hand, concerned adults perceive the potentially calamitous impact of misinformation in young people's lives while others celebrate new opportunities for young people to encounter and play with ideas that challenge and inspire them.
