Introduction: Fifth Association of Internet Researchers Special Issue of Information, Communication & Society

摘要

The collection of six papers in this themed issue comprises the fifth annual collaboration between Information, Communication & Society and the Association of Internet Researchers (AoIR). As in previous years, papers were selected from abstracts submitted to the annual conference, which were also presented at the conference held on 10-13 October 2011. We extend much thanks to Program Chair Lori Kendall for her initial curatorship of the abstracts, Confer ence Chair Karinc Nahon for making Seattle a warm and pleasant venue for AoIR 12, President Mia Consalvo for her bravura performance as President, and the rest of the AoIR executive board for their conscientiousness in making AoIR a vibrant and intellectually rich scholarly association: Alex Halavais, Vice Presi dent; Michael Zimmcr, Treasurer; and Catherine Middlcton, Secretary, along with Charles Ess, Holly Kruse, Gordon Carlson, Elizabeth Buchanan, Ted Coopman, and Suely Fragoso. Special thanks of course to the authors who revised their papers in an expeditious manner, following our editorial comments.
