摘要

A novel gas phase synthesis route has been developed to produce an ultrafine zirconia powder. Stabilising oxides of yttrium are added by a carefully controlled proprietary process which has been Used to produce Y-TZP and fully stabilised zirconia ceramics. Y-TZP materials produced using this route Show enhanced fracture toughness values and resistance to ageing and corrosion in acids/alkalis. A Special low radioactivity Y-TZP material has been produced for the biomaterials market. Fully stabili- Zed zirconia ceramics show good sinteractivity, ionic conduction and mechanical properties.
