KASHMIR - TREE MULBERRY FOR IMPROVED PRODUCTIVITY

In Kashmir valley where mulberry is generally grown as trees, the farmers often face the shortage of leaf during silkworm rearing which in turn affects the quality and productivity on one hand and economics, on the other. The authors emphasize the need for extensive plantation of mulberry on the sides of roads, bunds and waste lands and also to encourage mixed and inter cropping of mulberry with other crops, to overcome the problem.
