CSTRI REELING-CUM-TWISTING MACHINE FOR TASAR AND MUGA

Traditionally, tasar reeling is done by the women in the weavers family by rolling required number of filaments drawn from the cooked cocoons over, the thigh and winding on to a bamboo Natwa. This practice is primitive, un-hygienic and socially unacceptable. The output is low and the quality of silk produced inferior. Central Silk Technological Research Institute (CSTRI), Bangalore has developed a suitable tasar reeling machine with the sole objective of discouraging this primitive practice of thigh reeling.
