Shri Ghanshyam Singh, Member Traction Railway Board visited RDSO on his trip to Lucknow on 3 July, 2018. He met Shri Margoob Hussain, Director General, RDSO and discussed several matters of concern regarding diesel and electric traction. He later met the Executive Directors and Directors in traction area, namely from Electric Locomotive Directorate, Motive Power Directorate, Traction Installation Directorate and Testing Directorate and held detailed technical discussion on various projects and developments going on in their areas. Shri Singh stressed upon early completion of trials of WAGC3 locomotive (it is an electric goods locomotive converted at DLW from existing Diesel locomotive WDG3). The conversion of diesel to electric loco has been his idea for providing more electric locomotives in view of large scale electrification on Indian Railways. Among other items discussed were software simulation of existing OHE capability in Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata sections. Upgradation of speed and power of existing 3-phase locomotives WAP7 and WAP5 were also stressed upon.
