A Study On Probability Occurence Of Drought, Normal And Abnormal Rainfall At Bhubaneswar

The rainfall data of Bhubaneswar for period of 21 years (1986 to 2006)has been analysed to estimate probability occurrence of drought,normal and abnormal months as well as years. The probability occurrence of normal months in khariff season was found to be 0.568 with zero probability occurrences of abnormal months.Out of 252 months in 21 years,drought,normal and abnormal months has been found,to be 40.87,49.60 and 9.53 per cent respectively and the expected munber of drought,normal and abnormal months in a year were 4.91,5.95 and 1.14 respectively.
