The effects of texturing parameters on the structure and properties of cationic dyeable polyester yams have been studied by varying draw ratio, D/Y ratio, first heater temperature and heater contact time according to Box and Hunter experimental design for four variables and five levels of each variable. Crystallinity, birefringence, amorphous orientation, tenacity, elongation at break, crimp contraction, crimp stability, dye uptake, tight spots and broken filaments in draw-textured yams have been studied in relation to texturing variables for polyester yams with different DMS salt content. The presence of DMS salt in the fibre affects the draw-texturing behaviour of these yarns and the properties of the draw- textured yarns.
