摘要

A few metal complexes of VO(Ⅳ), Mn(Ⅱ), Fe(Ⅲ), Co(Ⅱ), Ni(Ⅱ), Cu(Ⅱ) and Zn(Ⅱ) with 3,4-methylenedioxybenzalidene-2-amino-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzothiazole have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, electronic, IR, NMR, ESR, Moessbauer, thermal and X-ray powder diffraction studies. The IR and NMR spectral data reveals the involvement of azomethine nitrogen in coordination to the metal ion. In the case of Mn(Ⅱ), Fe(Ⅲ) and Ni(Ⅱ) complexes, sulphur is also involved in the coordination in addition to azomethine nitrogen. From electronic spectral data, various ligand field parameters such as Dq, B~1, β and LFSE have been calculated for Co(Ⅱ) complex which are in good agreement with that proposed for tetrahedral complexes. The ligand and its complexes have also been screened in vitro for antibacterial, antifungal and antitumour activities.
