Reactive powder concrete is recognized for its excellent mechanical and durability characteristics. Its improvised characteristics are because of its intrinsic microstructure. In this paper, microstructure analysis of normal and steam cured reactive powder concrete specimens carried out using scanning electronic microscope and energy dispersive x-ray microanalysis is presented. The hydration products were identified and quantified using scanning electronic microscope images and energy dispersive x-ray analysis. The contributions of key ingredient materials and steam curing in development of hydration products in reactive powder concrete are discussed. It is found that, calcium silicate hydrates measured higher in quantity with negligible ettringite and monosulfate phases when compared with normal strength concretes.
