FIELD PERFORMANCE AND PRODUCTIVITY OF DIFFERENT INDIGENOUS AROMATIC RICE (Oryzae sativa L) VARIETIES UNDER OLD ALLUVIAL SOIL OF BURDWAN, WEST BENGAL

The field experiment was conducted under lowland conditions at Crop Research and Seed Multiplication Farm of the University of Burdwan, Tarabag, Burdwan for field performance of six different indigenous aromatic rice varieties during two consecutive kharif season in the year of 2014 and 2015. In order to study the field performance of different indigenous aromatic rice varieties (Badsabhog, Sitabhog, Sitasal, Jamainadu, Randhunipagal and tulaipangi) , various yield and yield parameters viz. plant height, number of effective tillers/hill, length of panicle, number of seeds per panicle and seed yield per ha were estimated and analyzed statistically. Among all tested indigenous aromatic rice varieties, the variety Randhunipagal recorded a significant plant height in cm. number of effective tillars per hill. number of seeds/panicle and seed yield under old alluvial soil of Burdwan.
