The Automated Document Factory (ADF) is typically used to describe closed-loop print-to-mail production systems. Printing usually takes place on high-speed continuous-feed printers that are attached to mainframe or mini computers. Finishing and mail equipment are inline with the printer, and the ADF turns out finished products ready for mailing.
