Digital Press Upgrade at Bucknell

Bucknell University's Office of Publications, Print and Mail has replaced its Xerox Color 800 with a new 100-page-per-minute Xerox Color 1000i digital press with a Xerox EX-P 1000i print server, powered by Fiery. "We really liked the 800 and we liked what it was doing for us," remarks Dean Fisher, Print Production Team Leader. So the Lewisburg, Pa., in-plant decided to stick with Xerox and move to a higher-speed device once it's lease on the 800 ended. The new press features the optional Specialty Dry Ink Station so the shop can print gold metallic effects. So far the in-plant has only tested the gold effects, but university designers have shown an interest in using this, he says.
