STREET NAME SIGNS 101: RETROREFLECTIVE STREET NAME SIGNS

Since there have been a lot of questions on street name signs and the Clearview font recently, following is a reprint of an article from the July/ August 2014 issue of the Journal which covered this topic. Joanne Conrad, one of the authors of the original article, has provided the following update(s) and changes that have taken place since it was published. Interim Approval IA-5 was given on the Clearview Font September 2,2004. As many of you know the provisional use of an alternative letter style was discontinued February 2016. The resulting feedback resulted in the reinstatement of IA-5 "Interim Approval for Use of Clearview Font for Positive Legends on Guide Signs" on March 28, 2018.
