The FCC has stayed the January 13, 2004 deadline that would have prohibited the filing of applications for new wideband radio systems or modifications to existing wideband radio systems in the Public Safety and other Private Land Mobile Radio Service ("PLMRS") bands below 512 MHz. IMSA, along with other public safety associations including the International Association of Fire Chiefs, Inc. (IAFC), The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials - International, Inc. ("APCO"), International Association of Chiefs of Police ("IACP"), Major Cities Chiefs Association ("MCCA"), National Sheriffs' Association ("NSA"), Major County Sheriffs' Association ("MCSA"), and the National Public Safety Telecommunications Council ("NPSTC") asked the Federal Communications Commission to reconsider certain portions of the Commission's Second Report and Order, FCC 03-34 (see January / February 2004 IMS A Journal).
