Kane County, Illinois, DOT Plans for Growth in Diversified County

Kane County, like many areas in the United States, has had to contend with an expanding population over the past two decades. In the eastern half of the county, villages and towns along the Fox River Valley - many of which have been established for more than a century - are seeing substantial growth. The western third of the county is largely farmland, while the central portion of the County is the "critical growth area". To address growth issues, Kane County's Division of Transportation (KDOT) participated with other agencies in the development of the County Long Range Land Resource Management, Transportation and ITS Strategic Plans.
