Kodak supports printing at SOPAG in an unusual way

A special feature of the new press hall of the Swiss cooperative company Sudostschweiz Partner AG (SOPAG) is that no new newspaper press has been installed there. Instead, SOPAG bought a used Wifag OF7 press equipped with six printing towers and two folders as a modernised, retrofit model.The outmoded newspaper plate imaging systems were replaced by two Kodak Generation News systems in the V speed version. These work with 1270 dpi output resolution and can together image 400 thermal plates per hour. The printing plate used is somewhat unusual for a newspaper printing operation: With the change in its CTP operation, SOPAG has switched from a typical newspaper thermal plate to the Kodak Trillian SP thermal plate.
