There's an amusing quip from award-winning author Robert Mc-Closkey that says, "I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant." This double speak serves to illustrate the importance of clear communication. There are few places in human endeavors where that's as critical as in pilot-ATC communications.
