Modern Seismic Monitoring Systems for Earthquake Hazard Management and Mitigation

In this article efforts have been made to describe the various seismic monitoring systems and the role of modern seismic monitoring systems in earthquake hazard management and mitigation. The typical digital broadband seismic station and telemetry linking of various remote digital seismic stations in near real-time are also described, this has a very important key role in modern seismic monitoring systems. Koyna (Maharashtra) modern seismic network is also described. This Modern Seismic monitoring is vita! to meet the nation's needs for timely and accurate information used in reducing the loss of Site and property from the earthquakes and tsunamis and to improve the nation's ability to respond effectively to damaging earthquakes. The functioning of the earthquake safety systems is described and finally concluded with how the safety measures can be improved by the use of modern seismic monitoring systems in preventing the ioss of life and property.
