Measurement of Brillouin Gain Spectrum Distribution along an Optical Fiber Using a Correlation-Based Technique-Proposal, Experiment and Simulation-

A correlation-based technique for measuring Brillouin gain spectrum distribution along an optical fiber is proposed, which employs frequency-modulated pump and probe lightwaves. The spatial-resolution of about 40cm is demon- strated, which cannot be realized by the conventional pulse-based technique.
