摘要

A low-voltage circuit breaker with open back side of quenching chamber, when arc ignites, the back gas flow will be produced, which influences the interruption performance of circuit breaker. Based on the numeric analysis of MHD arc model, the results demonstrate that vent hole in the back of the chamber can produce back gas flow to decrease the arc root velocity and cause the high temperature tail longer behind the arc column, which can cause the arc back re-striking. Then a simple experimental model chamber is set up, after comparing the chambers with back vent and without back vent, the simulation results is proved.
