In cellular mobile communications, only a subset of all availablenfrequency channels are assigned to each cell, hence, the interchannelnspacing of channels is wider than the required minimum. In this paper, anrandom spacing channel assignment (RSCA) scheme is proposed whichnexploits the wider interchannel spacing of assigned channels in eachncell to reduce the most deleterious third-order intermodulationndistortion caused by the nonlinear devices, such as hard limiters ornnonlinear power amplifiers. Results show that the proposed RSCA schemencan reduce the third-order intermodulation noise power by approximatelyn4-5 dB and yet it can still satisfy the minimum adjacent channel spacingnrequirement
