This paper proposes a time-division multiple-access (TDMA)-basednadaptive modulation scheme with dynamic channel assignment (AMDCA) tonachieve high-capacity communication systems under dynamically changingnpropagation path and traffic conditions. The proposed method measuresnthe received carrier-to-noise plus interference power ratio (C/(N+I)) ofneach TDMA slot to search available slots as well as to find out thenoptimum modulation parameters for each terminal, thereby effectivelyncombining the effect of mitigating both spatially distributed electricnfield strength variation by the slow adaptive modulation and spatiallynand temporally distributed traffic variation by the dynamic channelnassignment (DCA). Computer simulation confirms that the proposed AMDCAnsystem can achieve approximately three times higher system capacity thannthe conventional fixed channel assignment (FCA) using QPSK
