At the high temperatures and pressures encountered in EML (electromagnetic launcher) plasma armatures, corrections are needed to the ideal gas law and to the species free energies to include the charged particle interactions. However, the Debye-Huckel theory normally used to make such corrections in the ideal plasma domain becomes inaccurate in the nonideal domain. The authors review the corrections of the Debye-Huckel theory to take into account charged particle interactions. Then they present and compare relatively simple approximate formulas obtained by others and by themselves to extend those corrections into the nonideal domain.
