The recent paper by Jung and Seo [1] presents a moment method solution of an elliptical patch antenna with emphasis on inclusion of the attachment mode around the probe/patch junction. In this comment, I wish to point out that very similar work on the elliptical microstrip antenna was published by Bailey and Deshpande [2] more than 15 years ago. The concept of the attachment mode as presented in [1 eqs. (1)-(3)] appears to be identical in form to the corresponding expressions and approach used in the earlier published work [2]. However, a detailed derivation of the various mathematical formulas and solution procedure was provided in [2], whereas the presentation in [1] is very brief and provides little description about the mathematical or theoretical formulation. Figs. 1-6 appearing in [1] are also almost identical to the Figs. 1-6 published in [2], including the figure captions. Furthermore, the figure captions and legends in [1] have used some symbols such as d, I_(1), and I_(2), which are never defined in the paper. These symbols are defined and used in [2]. Finally, the authors come to the same conclusion in [1] that the attachment mode is necessary to obtain accurate results, as was found in [2]. In conclusion, it appears that the authors of [1] did not do sufficiently thorough research as far as previously published work is concerned.
