The transition to distributed energy resources (DERs) is happening rapidly in Western Australia, presenting serious and pressing risks to the safe and efficient operation of its main electricity grid, the South West Interconnected System (SWIS). DERs are smaller-scale devices that can either use, generate, or store electricity and form a part of the local distribution system serving homes and businesses.
